Alton Brown's Margarita
Servings: 1
Recipe courtesy Alton Brown, 2009. Makes 1 cocktail.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Tequila, 100 percent agave silver/blanco, divided
- 1 tbsp Kosher salt
- 4 Lime, divided
- 1/2 Orange, small Hamlin or Valencia
- 2 tbsp Blue agave nectar, light
- 3/4 cup Ice, 3 to 4 cubes
Directions
- Pour 1/2 ounce of the tequila into a small saucer and spread the salt in another. Dip the rim of a martini or other wide glass in the tequila, hold upside down 10 seconds, then dip in the salt.
- Halve 2 limes, cut a thin slice from one for garnish, and juice them into the bottom of a Boston shaker. Quarter the other 2 limes and the orange and add them.
- Add the agave nectar and muddle 2 minutes. Strain through a cocktail strainer, discarding the solids.
- Return the juice to the shaker with the remaining 1 1/2 ounces tequila and any left in the saucer. Add the ice, cover and shake 30 seconds.
- Strain into the prepared glass, garnish with the lime slice and serve.
